The Missouri native went through more than a few ups and downs before reaching the top of the charts: heartbreaks, being dropped by her first label, a string of odd jobs just to get by… She kept searching until she finally found her path with her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, released in 2023, followed by the single Good Luck, Babe!, a massive hit. A collection of disjointed vignettes follows a self-important writer on a hike, a lost driver re-routed away from the hospital, a philosopher in search of the best Chinese food, a couch-surfer on a midnight joyride, a spirited conspiracy theorist, and other young urban wanderers in the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles.

Farmer Chris Lowe meets and falls in love with Molly , a chorus-girl. Despite the fact that she is a city girl through and through, she accepts his proposal of marriage and after the wedding goes to live on the farm. Chris realises that the transition for Molly will be difficult, and in an attempt to ease her into farm life, buys her a strawberry roan calf to look after. Unfortunately Molly finds the adjustment to rural life extremely difficult and does not settle down. She fails to integrate into the local community and starts to feel she has made a big mistake.

Young Joe is paralyzed as he is bucked by a wild horse, a strawberry roan. Angered, his father, Walt, tries to shoot the horse but is stopped by his foreman, Gene Autry. The roan escapes and Autry, told to leave the ranch by Walt, finds and trains the horse, now named Champ, in hopes that by returning it to Joe it will provide him with the will to overcome his disability.

Billy is a rebellious teenager who lives with his mother and brother, and works in a foundry. His parents are separated and he has not seen his father, who lives in another state now, for years. After being arrested for joyriding in a car that was stolen by a friend, Billy is sent to a juvenile correction center. But when his grandfather dies, and Billy hears that his father will be coming into town for the funeral, he walks out of the facility, hoping to re-establish a relationship with him.
